Rex Murphy: Celebrating ‘diversity’ will only divide us, but celebrating Canada’s unity keeps us strong
Identity politics aligns with diversity, and it is emphatically not our strength. Identity politics is a flight from commonality and unity
The embrace of the hollow slogan of diversity is a guarantee of social chaos precisely because it can only come at the expense of any sense of commonality or unifying principles. In fact, appeals to diversity are just thinly disguised attempts to ensure conformity to a liberal social agenda against Christian principles, national culture, and the traditional family.
Above all, as Rex Murphy rightly notes, identity politics denies the political truth that has been established since the Holy Roman Empire, that a law of nations exists because we share a common human nature.
But it is hardly surprising that a “postnational” Prime Minister should so oppose the law of nations. After all, postnationalism is an expression of posthumanism.
