There has been a huge spike in the incidence of anxiety in young people in recent years, eclipsing the depression of the previous era.  What they share in common is that the distress is being treated pharmaceutically.

The predilection towards using chemicals is a troubling tendency, but of greater interest is that this article suggests that the ailment under which many certainly suffer is as much a product of social causes as anything else.  The article briefly mentions a possible correlation with the general confusion over gender roles and identities caused by the identity politics of the left.
