New Study: Large CO2 Emissions From Batteries Of Electric Cars
While the stock of companies like Tesla is going stratospheric, and calls for billions in investment (including government subsidies) are being met with euphoria, there remain huge questions about the economic viability of the technology. That isn’t only because the vehicles remain prohibitively expensive. There is also the fact that our current electricity grid couldn’t possibly sustain the home charging of electric cars, and would require power plants whose carbon footprint would surely negate the putative benefit.
And then comes the news of this Swedish study, which suggests that the batteries required for such vehicles have large CO2 emissions.
