Studies: Comprehensive Sex-Education is Not Working
CSE programs show ‘far more evidence of failure than success’
Critics of comprehensive sex-education have been comprehensive in their criticism.
The criticism has ranged from the fact that Ministries of Education usurp parents’ prerogative to educate their children in a totalitarian fashion, that the new sex-ed curricula promotes the agenda of leftist radicals, that it presents a highly selective look at the science of reproduction and disease, and that it presents sex divorced from notions of love and marriage, as a matter of individual consumer choice whereby ‘consent’ is its only ethical boundary.
There is now further evidence to arm its critics. An in-depth review of 60 of the best peer-reviewed studies of CSE in U.S. school classrooms has demonstrated the ineffectiveness of these programmes to do any positive good. So much for “evidence-based” education.
Parents will be very interested in the study:
“There is far more evidence of failure than success for U.S. school-based comprehensive sex education programs, including those described by the federal government’s TPP website as showing ‘evidence of effectiveness in reducing teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and associated sexual risk behaviors.’
