Some typically trenchant words in this column by New York Times’ columnist Ross Douthat.

There is a reason why the progressive caricatures of conservative Christian culture gain traction.  They resonate with people who have grown up within such communities. What is becoming evident these days is that sort of predatory culture crosses party lines, and is the product of a deeper problem than political affiliation.  It’s called human sinfulness.
