Lorrie Goldstein: How the media killed free speech

In a sentence: it accepted political correctness, which was designed to kill free speech.  When Western journalists refused to defend Salman Rushdie for offending Islam in the 1980s, free speech died with it.

Ever since the journalistic profession accepted that terrorists can limit their free speech, the most hysterical have had their way in the public square, and activists have joined their ranks.
