Why female sex robots are more dangerous than you think

The sex tech industry is currently worth $30 billion U.S.  Of course, three dimensional robots are about as one-dimensional in the way they relate to people as the plots of porn films.  The way in which women are objectified and dehumanized in pornography is now widely acknowledged, and its growing social cost is difficult to calculate.

There are resources out there, but the epidemic of pornography is only growing.

There is no concern about dehumanizing the robot.  Where the moral dimension of sex with robots is concerned, some self-interested advocates and investors are speaking of that as one of its many virtues.

But it is precisely the problem.

There is no moral difference between using and abusing a robot.  Since human beings are creatures of habit, however, the pattern of abusing robots who bear the image of the imago Dei will establish a pattern in the people abusing them.  The sexualization of a commodity will easily translate into the dehumanization of human beings as sexual commodities.

After all, the human appearance of these sex robots is what makes them such a valuable commodity.
