Posthumanism is an unfamiliar term to many, but it is everywhere around us.

Posthumanism is predicated on the idea that there is no such thing as a distinctive human nature, and that the way of progress is to eradicate the cultural premise that there is.  The ‘cultural premise’ includes eradicating those distinctive individuals we know as human beings, incidentally, particularly those who carry with them the ‘imperialistic’ culture of Christianity.

Following the ‘death of God’ theorists of the nineteenth century, we are witnessing its corollary:  those who wish and demand the ‘death of man’.

Posthumanism is being actively promoted by avant garde academics, tech firms, and Hollywood, whose posthumanist ideas (in the form of vampires, zombies and cyborgs) have been doing the imaginative spadework for these developments for a few decades.

Believers in the transhumanist use of technology, i.e. to enhance human life exist alongside them.

This Slovenian artist has ’embodied’ the challenges posed by posthumanism. In her performance, she breaks the divide between animal and human, life and technology, and Creator and creature.

Her aims was to explore “the social and ideological instrumentalization of the female body and breastfeeding.”

“Exposing her body to hormone roller-coasters of false pregnancy and organizing the lab infrastructure to execute the complicated biotech protocol in order to create a poetic masterpiece evoking the challenges of posthumanistic dilemma.

“K-9_topology is a true hybrid artwork with a profound bio-political message and is certain to bring a lot of discussion to the audience from both the art and science sides”.
