The narcissistic preoccupation with ‘self’ is a Romantic legacy given fuel by the new elites of the Sexual Revolution.  Their heady cocktail of selfies, self-expression, and even self-identification, are given a therapeutic self-help manual by the bureaucracies and psychiatric industry committed to their vision.

They oppose what they call ‘family values, mindless patriotism, religious fundamentalism, white racism, and retrograde views of homosexuals and women’ precisely because they stand in the way of ‘progress’.  This tendentious term is combined with the equally vapid caricature of any critics as being ‘on the wrong side of history.’

“Because it equates tradition with prejudice, the left finds itself increasingly unable to converse with ordinary people in their common language”, and yet because it refuses to recognize that its prejudice against tradition isn’t a reasoned position, but simply a ‘prejudice against prejudice’, it is incapable of self-criticism.
