Are gender feminists and transgender activists undermining science?

There are several troubling things about contemporary gender activism.

The inability of its advocates to define what gender is as a self-standing concept is a key one.  How and at what age the concept of gender relates to sex is another.

But most troubling of all is the speed with which politicians have been willing to follow the lead of radicals in inflicting on the public matters about which the science is far from settled, and to see the need to legislate as so urgent as to be willing to destroy the divide between public and private realm.

It is this willingness to violate the sacred divide protecting the family from the state that is most alarming.  Even the laws of the ancient world recognized the sanctity of the home and the authority of parents  within it.

To breach this divide is entirely in keeping with the workings of a totalitarian state.

If even trans advocates express sharp and fundamental divides on the scientific basis for policy, and yet public legislation has now advanced to enforce it upon families (as it has in Ontario in Bill 89), then it is hardly surprising that the historic rights of the public, such as those of freedom of religion, conscience, and expression are also being destroyed.

This is what Dr. Jordan Peterson has brought to the public’s attention about the Federal Bill C-16).  This is not a matter of peripheral interest to the public, or a small community.

It really is about social justice, which ought to be to the benefit of the whole, in accordance with the dictates of what is just, and not just a particular interest group at the expense of the whole.
