A pioneering computer scientist wants algorithms to be regulated like cars, banks, and drugs
One of the allures of technology is the sense of freedom from human limitation afforded by its power.
Yet along with its great power comes the need for great responsibility. As a human artefact, it still partakes of the fallen world and our sinful condition, and the necessary limitations upon it are thus inevitable. One computer scientist reflects on how even algorithms will soon be mired in bureaucracy and legal restriction.
