One of the more delightfully ironic tendencies among progressives, our ‘congenial eugenicists’, is their distinct lack of any sense of irony in relation to themselves.

A TV series adaptation of progressive icon Margaret Atwood’s 1985 dystopian novel “The Handmaid’s Tale” received a great deal of publicity a few months ago because of the alleged parallels it had with newly-elected President Donald Trump’s misogyny and authoritarianism.

Yet Atwood’s vision of a future relying on surrogates to propagate itself because of endemic sterility seems more to apply to the LGBT community and to European “commanders,” as Atwood calls political leaders, who are unable to have children.

Emmanuel Macron’s recent election as France’s President now means that the leaders of the four European countries among the G7 — Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister Theresa May, and Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni — are all childless.

They join Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, recently-elected Irish Leo Varadkar and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker among the childless ‘commanders’.

None of these commanders have shown any desire to address the problems of mass migration, or the demographic winter among Europeans.  To demonstrate their commitment to equality, Sweden and now Canada have adopted a ‘feminist’ foreign policy to bring abortion to the Africans too.

As Emmanuel Macron recently noted, “one of the greatest challenges facing Africa is too many Africans.”

Ideological colonialism is an attempt to help them with that challenge.

But the Africans might have something to say about that.  And future demographics are on their side.
