2. I agree with everything Dame Louise Casey said. Dr. Michael Youssef, who was born in Egypt and lived in Lebanon, has firsthand experience with Islamic practices and thought process, having lived for most of his life with one foot in the West and the other in the East, especially Islamic countries. In his “must-read” book Jesus, Jihad and Peace , he explains that Islam is far more than a religion. It is a political ideology–an all-encompassing way of thinking, as well as a culture and system of government that does not recognize the authority of any secular government–only the authority of Sharia law. He writes: “Our future is being written right now in the Arab world. The Western mind-set cannot comprehend the militant Muslim mind-set, even though the Islamists have repeatedly told us their goal is world domination. Our government, our media, our social institutions, as well as most of Christendom is in denial. Our ‘politically correct’ news organizations have become apologists for the Islamists.” Islam, contrary to what westerners have been told, does not mean “peace”. Islam comes from the Arabic root word “aslama,” which means “surrender”, not peace. The word Islam suggests the power of Allah to conquer all opponents. Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan once called the term moderate Islam a “very ugly term”. He said, “it is offensive and an insult to our religion. There is no moderate or immoderate Islam. Islam is Islam and that’s it.” In Canada, we have already seen Muslim professors teaching students in our universities that Sharia law is compatible with our democratic freedoms, values, rights and rule of law –all in the name of “free speech.” Honor killings, female mutilation (circumcision) , segregation of male and female, etc. compatible with our democratic freedoms, values, rights and rule of law? Shame on these universities for allowing them to get away with teaching such false propaganda and deceit. As for the Islamic code of conduct, we have all seen what happens to those who oppose Sharia law. Like Islam itself, Islamic governments tend to be dictatorial and authoritarian. Though Allah is called “merciful” in the Koran, he dispenses mercy and punishment according to his whim. Islam does not simply require belief; Islam demands surrender and submission. The prescription of agape love , confession and forgiveness that is central to the Christian life is unknown in Islam. Islamic law is the core of Islamic thought. “Islamophobia” is merely a label that radical Muslims used to silence and intimidate anyone who disagrees with them. Many Muslims who converted to Christianity in North Africa and the Middle East are languishing in prisons , convicted of”apostasy” a term Muslims use for the crime of forsaking Islam–what they consider to be the one true religion. Great Britain, Canada and the United States had better wake up.
