Montreal’s Olympic Stadium a temporary refugee shelter
As many as 100 people are coming across the border into Montreal on a daily basis.
Many of those arriving on Wednesday were of Haitian descent. There is a background to that. “In the United States, the Trump administration is considering ending a program that granted Haitians so-called “temporary protected status” following the massive earthquake that struck in 2010.”
Of course, one of the reasons that they may not want to return to Haiti is the failure of the Clinton Foundation to deliver on basic services despite receiving hundreds of millions.
The mainstream media of course only has one angle on this story – blaming the U.S. President – which Montreal mayor Denis Coderre supplies.
Montreal also suffers from a growing problem of radicalization. This story has many layers, but why people are able to cross the border of two friendly countries illegally remains the foremost one.
Up to 150 are applying for asylum on a daily basis, swamping the Canadian government services.
