Aristotle famously defined falsehood and truth in these terms: “To say of what is that it is not, or of what is not that it is, is false, while to say of what is that it is, and of what is not that it is not, is true” Metaphysics, (1011b25).

Words matter because they are our means of articulating the reality of what is.  When definitions change, many will yawn and say that words change as society does.  This is a thinly disguised form of moral relativism.  Along with changes in definitions, particularly those core definitions relating to human nature, the reality upon which human institutions are built and govern themselves also change.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) is the guide that is used by ‘clinicians, researchers, psychiatric drug regulation agencies, health insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, the legal system, and policy makers.’  It is effectively the Bible for practitioners in the area of mental health.

When it began, the DSM reflected the social and scientific consensus that more or less presented the normativity of the Christian view of the human person and of human sexuality.

As the Sexual Revolutionaries have gained social and political power, they have altered the basic definitions in the DSM to suit their ideological premises.  The Cultural Marxist strategy of transforming Western society via a long, slow march through the institutions has been particularly effective in the discipline of psychology.
