The continued violation of families in Ontario by public school boards

One of the most common complaints about the new sex-ed curriculum in Ontario was that there was no real process of consultation with parents on what was far more than what the government somewhat disingenuously termed an ‘update.’  It wasn’t an update, it was an entirely new operating system.

Another was that both the Minister of Education and the Premier had deceived the public when they had claimed parents could always withdraw their children from lessons to which they objected.  As parent Steve Tourloukis’s lawsuit against the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board has shown, he was not even allowed access to such information in advance.  It wasn’t because of the school board’s obstinance.   It was because lessons related to sex-ed were riddled throughout the curriculum thanks to the Education and Inclusive Schools Strategy already enacted by then Education Minister Kathleen Wynne.

This disdain towards parents was also in evidence in Bills 28 and 89, the first redefining the family to remove terms ‘father’ and ‘mother’ from all family law in Ontario, the second granting the state (and Child Services) the right to remove children from families who resisted their children’s desire to use chemical and surgical means to alter their perceived ‘gender identity.’

Parents concerned about where this might lead eventually did not have to wait long.  There are now 5 school boards in Ontario in which teachers have been ordered that they must keep a child’s supposed ‘transgenderism’ a secret from his or her parents.

The duplicity of the school boards, and the clear denial of the parents’ basic rights over their children are an international scandal.

It’s about time that Ontarians started waking up.
