The new humanities are founded on the politicization of culture and identity

Carl Trueman rightly observes that the crisis in universities isn’t the result of craven administrators so much as the way in which the humanities have allowed themselves to fracture according to areas of study disconnected from a broader vision since the 1960s.  The aims of these areas of study are ‘therapeutic’, addressing the victimization of certain groups as an endemic state without providing a broader vision that would allow genuine educational transformation.

Rebellion is thus given a quasi-intellectual veneer that is socially and politically dangerous.
