Why do we insist on gritty remakes of classics?

A culture that rejects God and does not esteem beauty, goodness, or truth as a consequence can’t even reproduce classic tales without reflecting its corruption:

‘The sensationalization of storytelling with F/X effects** , graphic violence, Grittiness, conflicted anti-heroes, de-humanizing and absurd sex acts, relentless scheming and backstabbing, and characters with no discernible value system whatsoever is a sign of how alienated we have become from our humanity. We are no longer capable of telling stories about people, about the fragile and precious beauty embedded all around us, and the way in which the human soul is shaped by our pilgrimage through this world.’
